
Japanese video game publisher Bandai Namco has been targeted in a cyberattack that may have resulted in data exfiltration.
The company, publisher of games such as Pac-Man, Dragon Ball and Elden Ring described the attack as unauthorized access by a third party to internal systems of group companies in Asian regions excluding Japan.
The company blocked the access further to prevent the damage of spreading across the network.
The BlackCat ransomware gang, claimed responsible for the attack and said that it had also stolen corporate data.
Bandai Namco said that data stolen in the attack may have included customer information related to the Toys and Hobby Business in Asian regions. The company did not specify the range of PII that may have been accessed.
It’s clear and evident that security hygiene need to be maintained at higher levels to protect from external threat actors
