CISA KEV Update Part III – July 2024

The US CISA has added two new vulnerabilities to its Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, based on evidence of active exploitation.

  • CVE-2012-4792 Microsoft Internet Explorer contains a use-after-free vulnerability that allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code via a crafted web site that triggers access to an object that (1) was not properly allocated or (2) is deleted, as demonstrated by a CDwnBindInfo object.
  • CVE-2024-39891 Twilio Authy contains an information disclosure vulnerability in its API that allows an unauthenticated endpoint to accept a request containing a phone number and respond with information about whether the phone number was registered with Auth.

CISA strongly urges all organizations to reduce their exposure to cyberattacks by prioritizing timely remediation of Catalog vulnerabilities as part of their vulnerability management practice.

The deadline for federal agencies to remediate is 13 August 2024
