Google fixes important vulnerabilities with the latest Google Chrome

Google has released updates for its Chrome browser, addressing several security vulnerabilities, including two important vulnerabilities.

The first vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-12381 with a CVSSv3 score of 8.8 is a Type Confusion vulnerability in the V8 JavaScript engine. This flaw could allow attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause crashes by taking advantage of the type confusion error.

The second vulnerability tracked as CVE-2024-12382 with a CVSSv3 score of 9.8  is a use after free vulnerability in the Translate feature could lead to memory corruption. Exploiting this flaw could enable an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the affected system.

As usual, Google has not provided any details about the vulnerabilities. Users strongly urged to update their Chrome browsers as soon as possible to safeguard against potential exploits.

The update, rolling out progressively to users, brings Chrome to version 131.0.6778.139/.140 for Windows and Mac, and 131.0.6778.139 for Linux.
