A shocking incident of cybercrime was reported from Maharashtra’s Mumbai where two freebies were arrested by the police after the jeweller approached them regarding the money he had lost in sim-swap fraud. The two cheats were arrested from Uttar Pradesh’s Noida by Mumbai Police from the MIDC police station.

The accused managed to commit the offence with the help of malware. Identified as Pradeep Sharma and Tejveer Singh, the duo targeted few employees of the jewellery company and got control of their SIM cards.

A thorough investigation into the probe revealed that the fraud was committed outside the country and it was the Noida-based men who had helped the accused in this crime. Following this, the police team reached Noida and detained the accused in connection with this case.

In another similar incident, a Mumbai-based businessman fell into the trap of cyber cheats when he tried to place a pizza order online.

The man came across a place named Francisco pizza places on Google. As soon as he dialed the number to place the order, the cyber crook, posing as pizza shop manager sent him a link for making advance payment. Unaware of his evil intentions, he clicked on the same and entered his personal details.

In no time, Rs 20,000 was debited from his account. On being questioned, the cheat said it was done by mistake and again asked him to click on the link to get back his amount. However, the same method was followed at least two-three times where he ended up losing Rs 65,000 in total. Following this, he approached the cops and an FIR was lodged and all efforts are on to nab the accused at the earliest.
